There is a common wisdom about stand-up comedy that it works better on a smaller stage than, say, in an amphitheater like the Xfinity Center. Ordinarily, Jeff Ross, who hosts Friday’s Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival in Mansfield, would agree.
“But this is special,” he says. “You’re under the stars. It’s romantic if you’re on a date. It’s fun. There’s a certain love in the air I don’t think you can replicate in a theater or a club.”
