Five days before he was to play the Wilbur Theatre in August, Jim Breuer’s father passed away. The two were very close — he’d even made a documentary in 2010, “More Than Me,” about caring for his dad while on tour. A little more than a week later, Breuer tweeted that he was ready to hit the road again and make people laugh. Such is the life of a comic.
Jim Breuer Sr. was 91 and died not long after a major stroke. His death was expected, and Breuer was happy he could be there for his father to die in his arms.
“Well, it’s good to just get back on track and start doing what you’re best at,” he says. “I did get to be there all the way to the last second. So I have a lot of closure with it, so all is good.”
