Improv Asylum brings the laughs from stage to page with a new print-only comedy magazine

Yesterday’s Magazine looks to standout in the stand-up world with its free, print-only model.

Some people might think that print is dead. Bo Segrest and his cohorts at Yesterday’s Magazine would beg to differ.

The new quarterly magazine just released its third edition at the beginning of September under the auspices of Improv Asylum, where Segrest and the writing staff all perform regularly with different casts. The print-only magazine is available exclusively at Improv Asylum and at shows that the magazine sponsors, like the stand-up showcase Segrest is hosting at Arts at the Armory in Somerville on Sunday. According to Segrest, if everyone else is peddling their humor online, that just helps a print magazine stand out that much more.

“I do think that there’s such an overload of things on your phone, online, whatever it is, that to have something that’s tangible and that you can hold in your hands is interesting,” Segrest said.
